AI Policy Reading Group

About

The BASIS AI Policy Reading Group is open to anyone interested in thinking deeply about AI policy, whether you're a Berkeley student or part of the broader community. Prior experience related to AI and/or policy is appreciated but not required. We hope to bring together a diverse community that wants to grapple with the policy challenges and opportunities created by rapidly advancing AI, and provide opportunities to spin-off discussions into action and policy outputs.

Join for stimulating conversations: Each week we dig into a reading related to AI policy, whether it's a paper, report, or news story about anything from algorithmic accountability audits to the geopolitics of semiconductor export controls, and tease out the real-world policy implications. There will be opportunities to submit individual brief position papers to seed discussion and debate around the issues.

Join the AI policy community & collaborate: Meet people across campus and the wider Berkeley area who care about AI policy, and translate the combination of interest + experience into action (memos, research collaborations, and more). If you are interested in participating but unavailable at this time, please still sign up! Filling out the form adds you to the mailing list, and future meeting times may change. Summer meetings are scheduled weekly on Wednesday late afternoon/early evening. Meetings will be in-person on or very close to campus. The meeting schedule may change once the school year begins.
